Mining in this area followed the Klang River and almost all mining involved dredging the Klang river and alluvial deposits along the eastern banks of the river and its floodplain.
The Weng Lee deposit was located at mile marker 4 on the former Ulu Klang Road. This road has since been turned into a major highway (the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Expressway).
Much of the dredging of the Klang River was by the Ampang Tin Co. Ltd.
