Inactive shale quarry in the vicinity of Barrancos.
This deposit is important for the abundance of ichnofossils, some of them new ichnospecies, described by Delgado in 1910. This quarry is located in the Barrancos anticlinal structure of the Estremoz - Barrancos sector of the Ossa Morena Zone.
Esta jazida é importante pela abundância de icnofósseis, alguns deles novas icnoespécies, descritas por Delgado em 1910. Esta pedreira está situada na estrutura anticlinal de Barrancos do sector de Estremoz - Barrancos da Zona de Ossa Morena.
Os xistos encontram-se verticalizados e tem uma direção NW-SE. Nesta jazida encontrar uma sequência de xistos esverdeados e amarelados, nos quais se identificaram os icnogéneros Nereites, Dictyodora, Phyllodocites, Lophoctenium, Oldhamia, Gordia, Palaeophycus?, Phycodes?, aff. Didymaulichnus, Zoophycos?, Chondrites, Megagrapton?, Diplichnites e o graptólito Expansograptus hirundo (Salter, 1863). Esta última forma data estes xistos do Arenigiano superior.
