Structure: Gentle Dip To W. About 15 Ft/Mi Off Bend Arch

Deposit: Smith (1974, p. 49, 62, pl. Ivd), stroud and others (1970, p. 37), and galloway (1970, county map) give location on f. Davidson survey, n. Of salt fork river, about 3.5 mi w. Of confluence of double mountain fork and salt fork of brazos river. Roessler (1876a,b) shows copper prospects in this area. Whitmire (1936, p. 34-36) discusses some history.
Development: 65 tons of ore produced from 1965 to 1970. Whitmire (1936, p. 34-36) mentions that vogle and dalman began prospecting here in 1886. In 1892 an eastland city firm shipped 10 wagon loads of ore to abilene to el paso, texas. The silver pass mining co. Of st. Louis, missouri, also was here in 1892. In 1917 another company was formed.
Geology: The copper occurs in a greenish-gray shale near top of the flowerpot shale and probably belo W the kiser gypsum. The shale is about 6-17 inches thick. Storm (1929), patton (1930), smith (1974, pl. Ivd), and barnes (1967) give geology. Galloway (1970, meas. Sec. 0) measured 103 ft of flowerpot-san angelo within 1 mi NE of the prospect down to salt fork.; hr.age.mv: guadalupian
