Deposit: The core hole a-7 did not encounter any copper at this horizon. Stroud and others (1970, p. 37, 39, 56-57) is main reference. Richard (1915, p. 645) is another reference; on joseph tackitt ranch. Chalcocite nodules and fossil wood. Smith (1974, p. 66, pl. Iv) gives geology and core hole a-7 data of stroud. Galloway (1970, p. 33) also gives data on core hole a-7 of stroud. Was ross ranch (in 1970). The workings consisted of two pits and one adit. Cummins (1891, p. 451, pl. 18; 1893, p. 235) mentions buzzard peak showing three prospects, two s. And one n. Of buzzard peak, within 2 miles of the peak. Discovery year: possibly 1647; 1872 or before?
Development: Hale (1972, p. 168-169) - b.b. Hendrix, of s W knox co., found copper spanish medallion here: "s. Pater bened. Icivs. Silvestcon silf, 1647" on one side, and st. Peter, angel, and bible on other side. From 1882-1945, 2550 tons of ore were removed. A mill was erected in 1917.
