Kaolingrube Rappauf
This deposit is excavated in mining since 1890. The location produces highly valuable raw kaolin material for the porcelain industry.
At first only for the factories around Tirschenreuth and Northern Bavaria, later international.
Owner is the Imerys tableware company. Some hundred meters far away is another active kaolin deposit, the Schmelitz mine, belongs to the same company.
Sometimes it's possible to find quartz crystals in different veins, it depends on the actual working situation.
Both mine locations are near by the state road 15, south of Tirschenreuth
