One of several major ilmenite-magnetite-apatite deposits located in the Bjerkreim-Soknadal anorthosite intrusion.
Oxide- and apatite-rich modally layered gabbronorite in the Bjerkreim-Sokndal Layered Intrusion in the Rogaland Anorthosite Province. The stratigraphic sequence, to which the Teksestemmen deposit belong, is conventionally denoted MCU4-e and may be followed along strike from Rappstad in the southern extension around the hinge of the Bjerkreim lobe to Ualand in the north-eastern extension - a total distance of approximately 25 km. The two uppermost zones in MCU IV (the e- and f-zones) contain apatite in addition to ilmenite and magnetite. The stratigraphic thickness of the two zones exceeds 1 km in the central part, however the economic part is restricted to the lowermost part (50-170 m) of zone e. The zone of economic interest is further restricted to the northeastern part of the Bjerkreim lobe, the area between Terland and Ualand, a total distance of ~10 km.
