In 1897 some prospecting has been done in magnetite/hematite ore deposits in this area. The report mentions a 40 m long, hand-drilled shaft, made by four workers. Three ore lenses have been observed with a thickness of 0,5-1 m. Samples from the Osmark shaft showed up to 5,68% MnO.
