The entry is based on a label and entry in the mineraldealer Gunnar Färber's catalog. Ambatomanambahatsa and Efoty is two separate villages 8-10 km's apart, and probably more a description of the locality and not the very name of the locality. Efoty is located in the Maniry Commune and Ambatomanambahatsa in the Amborompotsy Commune.

Efoty is said to be a new locality for orange brown spessartine garnets in Madagascar.
