An U occurrence/prospect on 2 claims located in the NW¼ sec. 24, T.13S., R.18E., about 30 miles East of Tucson and 1.5 miles SSW of the Bar-LY Ranch. Claim No. 7 is owned by R.M. Vanover and No. 8 is owned by L.D. Hill, both of Tucson.
Mineralization is uranium concentrations in a conformable sequence of generally thin-bedded limestone, shale, and conglomerate strata that strike N.40º-60ºW. and dip 45º-70ºNE. The rocks are probably of late Paleozoic age and may belong to the Naco Limestone of Pennsylvanian age. The radioactive zone follows a petroliferous limestone bed as much as 2 feet thick, exposed just below the crest of a short ridge formed by resistant limestone, and affects the overlying limestone and the underlying shaly limestone. No uranium minerals recognized. Petroliferous material most radioactive.
