An asbestos prospect located in sec. 5, T1N, R16E, about 1½ miles N of the fairgrounds, 3 miles South of Chromo (Chrome) Butte, Apache Ridge area, and about 5¼ miles NE of Globe, just W of the San Carlos Indian Reservation boundary, at 4,300 feet of altitude. NOTE: The coordinates place this locality off the Indian reservation; however, the MRDS file indicates that it is on the reservation.
Mineralization is in about 15 feet of thin-bedded, white to gray, limestone that is underlain by a sill and is overlain by 10 feet of algal limestone and 70 feet of rusty-brown siltstones. The beds strike N.55ºW. and dip 25º to 30ºSW. At least 3 minor fiber zones within 7 feet above the diabase-limestone contact.
Workings include a few pits and underground workings (branching adit). No production record.
Assay data: Soft to semi-harsh fiber 1½ inches long.
