Mine workings and prospects in the area known as Fursil or Wersil, on the southern slope of Monte Pore.

The main siderite mineralisation, consisting of spatic siderite veins (1-2 to 4 m thick) with associated limonite and baryte, is hosted in limestones of the Bellerophon formation near the contact with rocks of the Werfen formation. Minor Pb-Zn mineralisations are also present in the area.

The iron mines are known since the Middle Ages. In 1177, the Holy Roman emperor Fredrick I Barbarossa recognised the right of their ownership to the Neustift/Novacella Monastery, which later transferred the right to the Prince-Bisphoric of Brixen/Bressanone. The maximun production was reached in the middle of the 17th century. The mines, closed in 1753, were reopened for a short period at the end of the 1830s. The Italian mechanical manufacturing company Breda during the autarchic period (1938-43) exploited again the mines, definitely closed in 1945.
