Outcrop of red beds of the Upper Permian Val Gardena Sandstone formation, below the third hairpin turn of the road connecting Agordo with Voltago Agordino (Provincial Road SP347), in which are present geodic cavities filled with aragonite, maybe the most known mineral of the Agordo area (see also the localities Col di Foglia, Agordo, and Val del Mus, Voltago Agordino).

Aragonite appears as colourless to white acicular crystals to 1-2 cm long in geodic cavities, varying in size from a few millemetres to a few tens of centimetres, embedded in red beds. Tiny crystals of dolomite are often observed inside the geodic cavities.
