Hornfels, formed by contact metamorphism of rocks of the Bullion Canyon volcanics bordering the margin of a quartz monzonite stock, is in fault contact with the later Mount Belknap rhyolite. The hornfels was intensely altered by hydrothermal solutions in pre-Mount Belknap time.
