A former Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 16, T21N, R20W, G&SRM, 1.75 miles SW of Union Pass and about 9 miles from the Colorado River, on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Discovered 1894. Owned & operated by the Frisco Land and Mining Company, Idaho (Home office: Nevada) (1987). Operated 1894 to 1935. The USGS MRDS database stated accuracy for this locality is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a precious metals deposit hosted in schist, gneiss and granite. The ore body strikes N55E and dips 12S at a width of 5.49 meters and a depth-to-top of 91.44 meters. The body is a fissure vein and is tabular. The primary mode of origin was hydrothermal activity. The primary ore control was a contact zone. Granite, capped by rhyolite, forms a low hill. The principal vein strikes N55E, dips 12SE, and occurs as a stringer lode in the rhyolite at the granite contact. Its maximum width is 18 feet (5.7 meters). Several faults, generally of small displacement, cut the vein. The quartz of these stringers is banded, vuggy, and chalcedonic in texture and creamy white to light brown in color. Most of the ore mined came from the heavily iron-stained lower portion of the vein. Some of the underlying, iron-stained granite contained ore. Tertiary flows strike NW and dip 30-40NE, and overlie Precabrian granite and gneiss. Associated rocks include Pliocene-Neoproterozoic rhyolite of the Golden Door Volcanics. Local rocks include Middle Proterozoic granitic rocks.

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 91.44 meters. Operations were cut and fill. In 1984-1986, surface drilling was being carried out to discover and develop additional reserves for intermittent heap leach operations.

Production was an estimated 44,000 tons of ore mined before 1916. Production statistics: Year: 1916 (period = 1894-1916): 44,000 short tons (2,000 pounds) ore at $14/ton (period values) Au (6 grams/metric ton).

Reserves and resources: In-situ (estimate year = 1987): Total resources = 68,000 metric tons of ore at 0.883 grams/metric ton Au.
