A former small surface and underground Ag-Au-Baryte-Gypsum mine group located in the SW¼ sec. 35, T15S, R2E (protracted), 6½ miles SSW of the Quijotoa Trading Post. Produced 1880-1892.
Mineralization is free gold with silver chlorides in oxidized quartz-calcite-barite-hematite pockets in Laramide rhyolite volcanics along a fault zone. The silver ore has baryte-lined fissure cavities-the largest is approximately 200 feet long, 20 feet high, and 20 feet wide.
Baryte was deposited by meteoric waters.
Workings include numerous small shafts, pits, and adits. Worked out in a short period in the 1880's. Production is estimated at some 50 or more tons of high-grade Au-Ag ore. Ag mine workings, no baryte production reported.
