A former small underground Cu-Pb-Ag-Zn-Au mine located in the NE¼NE¼NE¼ sec. 10, T.17S., R.12E., 5 miles NNW of Twin Buttes, on land of unknown status. Operated 1900-1947. Owned/operated at times, or in part, by the South San Xavier Copper Co.; Empire Zinc Co.; W.C. Fields; Hall & Lewis; Selim Franklin; and the Eagle Picher Mining & Smelting Co.
Mineralization is irregular, pyrometasomatic replacement orebodies with siliceous capping and strong garnetization, containing partly oxidized base metal sulfides in Paleozoic limestone along a strong fault zone and in contact with Laramide intrusive granite.
Local structures include an E-W fault zone contact between limetone and arkose.
Workings include shaft operations. Sporadic production occurred in the early 1900's to 1947. Some 2,000 tons of ore averaging about 4% Cu, 4% Pb, 2% Zn, 2.5 oz. Ag/T and minor gold were produced.
