A former small underground Cu-Ag-Zn-Pb-Au mine located in the NW ¼ sec. 2, T.17S., R.12E. (Twin Buttes 15 minute topo map), 6 miles N of Twin Buttes. First produced 1907 and closed 1919. Owned at times, or in part, by the Mineral Hill Consolidated Copper Co.; Chilson; the Pioneer Smelting Co.; Copper Star Mining Co.; and the Plumed Knight Leasing Co. Operated by H. Wheaton and R. Nicolai of Tucson (1943).

Mineralization is largely copper carbonates and oxides in irregular replacement lenses along fissured bedding planes in Paleozoic limestone. Weaker sulfides deposits in depth. Ore concentration was secondary enrichment through oxidation. Most Cu produced above the 150 foot level. Depth to bottom of the ore body is 106.68 meters.

Workings include shaft operations to a depth of 106.68 meters. Worked sporadically from 1907 through 1919; and in 1947 and 1956 (without producing). Produced some 20,000 tons of ore averaging about 3.5% Cu, 1 oz. Ag/T, 0.4% Zn, 0.2% Pb and minor Au.
