A former small surface and underground W mine located in the west-center of sec. 16, T. 11 S., R.16E, 1 mile E of Marble Peak. Discovered by Mr. Newt Wells in 1942. First produced 1943. Owned at times, or in part, by Wells; and the Arizona Copper Mines, Inc.
Mineralization is shallow, spotty scheelite in a metamorphosed Precambrian quartzite lens near the contact with Laramide quartz diorite intrusive. Ore control was limy lenses 1 to 4 feet wide in quartzite. Sparse scheelite to a depth of 30 feet.
Workings include shallow shafts and some trenches. Some 100 tons of 4% WO3 ore were produced in the 1940's. Corrigedor produced the most tungsten from the Control Mines, Inc. group.
