A former underground pair of Cu-Ag mines located in the center of sec. 25, T.18S., R.15E. (Sahuarita 15 minute topo map), on patented (private) land. Owned by the Rosemont Copper Co.; and, ASARCO (1988-1992 & beyond). The Old Pap and Old Put patented claims are part of the Helvetia property owned by ASARCO (1992).
Mineralization is copper carbonates, oxides, and silicates in silicified, shattered, crushed, and locally iron-stained Paleozoic quartzite along cross-faults cutting thrust-faulted Paleozoic formations. Production from the late 1800'S to the early 1900's averaged 5% Cu (2000 tons of ore).
Workings include tunnels. Probably produced some 2,000 tons of ore averaging about 5% Cu in the late 1880's and early 1900's.
