The Crystal Grove Diamond Mine and Campground is a fee-for-collecting site in Fulton County, New York. It is about 4 miles northeast of St. Johnsville, which is in Montgomery County. The mailing address is 161 County Highway 114, St. Johnsville, NY 13452. GPS coordinates for the Office and Rock Shop are 43.0489, -74.6383. There are two main collecting pits:
• Tears of Wenedi Mine (43.0514, -74.6341)
• Black Diamond Mine (43.0506, -74.6333)
There is also a wooded trail called the Arrow Head Trail Mine with multiple pits and diggings. The Black Diamond Mine is noted for an abundance of hydrocarbon-included “Herkimer Diamond” quartz crystals. Also found are calcite (fluorescent magenta-pink under MW UV light), pink and gray saddles of dolomite, and clear quartz crystals.
