Claycomb, Jones & Hailey, of Cassville, started a prospect in the NW. 1/4 of the NE. 1/4 of section 10, township 24 N., 29 W. Here the ore seemed to be in the lower part of the Burlington limestone, in the broken chert. It is mainly composed of "silicate,” which appeared in considerable quantity. A portion of the bluff was composed of a breccia of chert and ore. A shaft about 20 feet in depth was sank here, at the mouth of which some six or eight tons of ore were piled up.
