Deposit: Woodruff (1904, p. 32) mentions hallett's mine, but de barr (1904, p. 34, 36) mentions illinois mining co. On rattlesnake mtn. (samples 20-25). Woodruff said that it was 3 mi n W of mountain park. Hale (1981b, p. 311, 318, map) had an e. Hallett shaft, 186' deep, in diabase dike in granite in sec. 21-3n-17w. Wilson (1976, p. 7) mentioned that henry hallett (not e. Hallett) owned the rattlesnake mine. Dike is possibly vertical
Development: Possibly the illinois mining co. Was owned by a mr. Hallett, who had a mine on rattlesnake mountain. The mine possibly was 130 ft in oct. 1904, then deepened to 186 ft.
Geology: After emplacement of mount scott granite, a diabase dike cut the granite, possibly bringing copper mineralization with it. Talc is associated. The hennessey group possibly surrounded the area, and copper could have been deposited in the hennessey sea. Gilbert and myers (1986) discuss the geology.
