This is a region where the Early Permian Kungarian (Leonardian) Age Kaibab Formation limestone occurs. Many fossils occur in this
limestone. Sparse trace fossils may also be found in the underlying Permian Coconino Sandstone.

This region is bounded on the north by Forest Road (FR) 9366R, on the east by State Route (SR) 260 and from the intersection of SR 260 and SR
87 south to the Gila County boundary. The southern boundary is the Gila County line. The western boundary is a line drawn from the intersection of SR 87 and Strawberry Canyon in Gila County north to the line’s intersection with FR 9366R.
