Structure: The Zuni Mtns. Are An Elongate Nw Trending Dome With A Core Of Precamrian Rocks. Ene Trending Faults Near Large North To Nw Trending Faults
Tectonics: Colorado Plateau
Deposit: Aqua to pale green fluorite occurs in three nearly parallel fissures trending ene in precambrian aplite. The fluorite is dense to medium crystalline and locally contains limonite gouge, quartz, and wall rock inclusions. The main workings are on the southern vein, which strikes N 85 E and dips steeply south. A 100 ft shaft was sunk on the vein. At the 75 ft level, the shaft connects with an adit driven from a portal 275 ft to the east. The adit continues along the vein 145 westward. Eastward from the shaft, the vein ranges from 10 to 40 in across and contains 37 to 75 % caf2, while westward the vein breaks up into stringers and abruptly ends at a crossfault contact with biotite schist. Ore material from the small veins to the north is similar to that of the south vein.
