A former small Au-Ag-W-Hg surface placer deposit and mine located 5 miles NW of Arivaca in the NW ¼ sec. 10 & NE ¼ sec. 9, T.21S., R.9E. Also in T21S, R10E. Produced in the 1950's. Operated by the New Venture Placer Mining Co. (1950).

Mineralization is placer gravels 6.1 meters thick with irregularly distributed, finely divided gold with a few nuggets on pediment slopes, and in various gulches and washes at, or near, true or false bedrock. Considerable clay. Gravels contain abundant black sand (with cinnabar and wolframite). The source of the gold is believed to be Cretaceous-Tertiary gold-bearing quartz veins.

Small scattered workings with dry washers used except when water was available. Sluices and a Clark agitating sluice also have been used.
Probably a few thousand ounces of gold, with minor silver, were produced during the period 1750 to 1900, and some 100 oz. since that time.
