A former small surface and underground Cu-Ag mine located in the SE ¼ sec. 30, T.13S., R.12E. (Avra 7.5 minute topo map), 10 miles NW of Tucson, on National Park land (Saguaro National Monument West). Produced 1907-1954. Owned at times, or in part, by the Columbia Copper Co.; the Mile Wide Copper Co.; Mr. Miles Durick; and the L.B.D.M. Mining Co.
Mineralization is copper carbonates and sulfides in irregular, small, replacement bodies/pods along fracture zones in limestone lenses in Cretaceous arkose close to a Laramide intrusive dike. The ore pod is 2 meters long. Cu silicate occurs on fractures in a massive limonite body. Alteration is pyrite gossan.
Workings include shallow openings, pit. Some 130 tons of ore were produced in 1954, averaging about 2% Cu and 0.4 oz. Ag/T.
