SPRING CREEK (Cooke County). Spring Creek rises just north of Hood in southwestern Cooke County (at 33°34' N, 97°20' W). Intermittent in its upper reaches, the stream runs twenty miles southeast to its mouth on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, five miles southeast of Valley View (at 33°25' N, 97°07' W). It crosses variable terrain surfaced by shallow stony clay loams that support oak, juniper, and grasses. Spring Creek fossil collecting site is located off of Spring Creek Road, 1 1/2 miles west of I-35N,
5 1/2 miles north of Valley View, Texas. The county has been getting roadbed material from the creek.
