A former underground Au-Ag-Be occurrence/mine located in W½NE¼ sec. 20, T21N, R20W, G&SRM, 5.5 km (3.4 miles) WSW of Union Pass (coordinates of record), about 3½ miles SE of the Roadside property, on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Owned by Sutton Resources, Ltd. (1987) and by Meridian Land and Mineral (1987). This mine was started before 1917. Production occurred from prior to 1917 to 1934.

This mine adjoins the Philadelphia group. Both were operated jointly in the past. Previous owners and operators include Charles Toos, L. Patello, R. Brannack, Gold Standard Mining, G.C. Taylor, and the Mines Company of America. Sutton conducted surface drilling program with Meridian Land and Mineral and identified reserves (1984-1986).

Mineralization is a Au-Ag-Be deposit hosted in schist, gneiss and granite. A rhyolite-porphyry dike intrudes the granite, and, along the hanging wall of this dike, rhyolite tuffs have been faulted against the dike. The ore body strikes N45E and dips 82S at a thickness of 0.3 meters, width of 9.1 meters, length of 152 meters. It is a fissure vein. The primary mode of origin was hydrothermal activity. The vein occurs in the dike, close to the fault. A mineralized zone 30 feet wide and consisting of a number of quartz stringers occurs in the rhyolite dike and, to a certain extent, in the granite footwall. The individual veinlets of this zone vary in width from a fraction of an inch up to 12 inches or more. The veinlets are chiefly quartz, but, in some places, consist of coarse-grained, gray calcite. A comb structure is common in the smaller stringers where the quartz crystals are large. The central portion may be vuggy, and the vugs often contain manganese dioxide; occasionally, however, the central part of the veinlet is filled with calcite. Near the hanging wall portion of the lode, a small stringer of fluorite was found.

Associated rocks include Pliocene-Neoproterozoic rhyolite of the Katherine Granite; Golden Door Volcanics. Local rocks include Middle Miocene to Oligocene volcanic rocks.

Regional geologic structures include parallel NW-trending faults. Local structures include NE-trending normal fault with the downthrown side to the E; granite occurs to the NW of the fault and rhyolite to the SE f it. The rhyolite dips 50SW and overlies Precambrian granite.

Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings. Principal access to the underground workings on the Arabian property was by a shaft on the Philadelphia group. The total length of workings on both groups was approximately 630 feet and were comprised of a shaft, adit, shrinkage stope, and open cut bench.

Production was 593 ounces of Au and 1,156 ounces of Ag (to 1933).

Analysis test results: SAMPLES: Mineralized zone: over 0.10 ounce Au/ton; Northern vein: averages about 0.50 ounce Au/ton and 3.0 to 10.0 ounces Ag/ton.
