A former small underground Au-Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn mine located in West-central sec. 13, T.23S., R.10E, 4 miles S of Ruby, on private land. Started 1912. Owned at times, or in part, by Williams; and, Foltz.

Mineralization is irregular and lensing quartz fissure veins containing spotty base metal sulfides, oxidized and supergene enriched in silver and gold. The wall rock is Jurassic volcanic tuff. The host rock units are the Cobre Ridge Tuff and the Sidewinder Quartz Monzonite. The tuff is welded and non-welded. Ore control was the contact between quartz latite tuff and a quartz monzonite dike. Ore concentration was oxidation and supergene enrichment. Alteration is minor. Local structures include NW-trending fault zones.

Workings include shaft operations. Prospected and worked in the 1890's and intermittently into the 1900's. Produced some 100 tons of ore averaging about 15 oz. Ag/T, 0.5 oz. Au/T and minor Cu & Pb.

Knight's map shows only "El Oro" - mine - same as on topo sheet - but this is the same mine as patented "Oro" Mine.
