A former iron mine complex located in North-central sec. 6, T.5N., R.17W. Owned by Smith & Ellis.
Mineralization is lenses and stringers and massive replacement bodies of hematite in a faulted complex of metamorphosed Mesozoic limestone, and Precambrian gneiss and schist, assaying some 61% Fe, 8% SiO2 and with a low sulfur and phosphorus content.
Workings include open pit operations. In 1917 some 19 carloads of iron ore were shipped.
