A former underground Cu-Au-Ag-Fe-Mo-V-U mine group located on 20 claims in the NW¼ sec. 2, T11S, R17W (protracted) (Mohawk SW 7.5 minute topo map), 19 miles S from Wellton, on a military reservation. Owned at times, or in part, by the Arizona Consolidated Mining Co.; Messrs. Swenson, Copple & McIntosh (1933); and, Linden.
Mineralization is spotty secondary copper minerals in veinlets and coatings, in lensing and banded (bands = less than ¼ inch wide), coarsely crystalline, quartz-hematite-sericite veins (to 4 feet [1.22 meters] wide) along a fissure zone in Mesozoic granite. The vein strikes S.52ºE. and dips nearly 90º and is traceable on both sides of a canyon nearly to the ridge tops. Quartz cut by calcite veins and wall rocks silicified and sericitized.
Workings include a shaft to 700 feet (213.36 meters) deep that connects with about 2,000 feet of workings on 7 underground levels, and tunnel operations. They were worked intermittently from the early 1910's through 1939. They produced some 145 tons of ore averaging about 2% Cu, 0.3 oz. Au/T and 1.4 oz. Ag/T.
