A small former surface and underground Au-Ag placer deposit area located in T3N, R21-22W, & T4N, R21W, in various washes throughout the area, about 9 miles West of Quartzsite and 9 miles NE of Ehrenberg Ferry, on BLM-administered land. Started about 1862. Operated by the La Paz Mining Co. (1986).

Mineralization is gold-bearing gravels, often containing large nuggets, in various large and small washes throughout the area, with the best values near a dissected pediment on Mesozoic metamorphics intruded by Laramide granitic intrusives. The gold-bearing gravels reach a depth of 18.29 meters. The source of the gold was numerous gold-bearing quartz veins in the Mesozoic metamorphics.

Workings consist of many shallow shafts and shallow cuts. These placers were found in 1862 and were worked extensively until 1864, and intermittently on a small scale since then. Total estimated and recorded production would be over 50,000 oz. of gold plus some silver. During 1984-1986, La Paz Mining performed a surface drilling program and bulkm sample test in sec. 26.
