A former underground Cu-Au-Ag-Fe mine located in South-central sec. 34 & North-central sec. 3, T10N, R18W (Black Peak 15 minute topo map), on the southern base of Gibralter Mountain, about 10 miles E of Parker, on BLM-administered land. Produced 1909 through 1955. Owned/operated at times, or in part, by the Wardwell & Osborne Copper Mines Co.; Mammon Gold & Copper Co.; Mammon Copper Co.; Osborne; Whitt.
Mineralization is ore found in hematite fracture and breccia filling with spotty narrow and lensing oxidized copper ores and minor gold and silver along a shear zone between Precambrian metamorphics and Quaternary-Tertiary intrusive; and along schistosity in the Precambrian metamorphics. This deposit is surrounded by Quaternary-Tertiary basalts. Ore control was mineralization along the low-angle fault. Alteration included oxidized copper mineralization.
Workings include an adit tunnel and inclined shaft openings. This mine was prospected and mined sporadically from about 1901. Production was over 800 tons of ore averaging about 4.5% Cu, 0.7 oz. Au/T, and 0.16 Oz. Ag/T.
