Köppen climate type:
A Au mine located in NE¼ sec. 36, T1N, R17W, in a small hill on the south side of Red Raven Wash, about 1 mile SE of Ocotillo, northern S.H. Mountains, on federal land.
Mineralization is spotty, finely divided, free gold in fractures and breccia with gouge, calcite, and iron and manganese oxides, in andesitic volcanics. Andesite porphyry and gray tuff, cut by numerous veins and stringers of quartz and calcite, mostly have a vertical dip.
On the Regal No. 1 an inclined shaft about 35 feet deep is driven in iron-stained brecciated andesite porphyry. The zone is about 6 feet wide, trends N.80ºW., and dips 45ºS.
Workings include a 70 foot long tunnel at about N.10ºE., a 35 foot deep winze and 2 short drifts. Ore assayed at about $8 Au/T (period values).
