A former surface Mn mine located in the SW¼ sec. 16, T11N, R12W, GSRM, 10.3 km (6.4 miles) NE of the Alamo Lake Dam, on land of unknown status. Owned and operated at times, or in part, by Rogers (1953) and Smith (1954), both of Arizona. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is manganese ores, probably mixed pyrolusite and psilomelane, in a flat-lying lens, or large pod, in Tertiary sedimentary bed above a basalt flow. Local rocks include Middle Miocene to Oligocene volcanic rocks.
Workings include an open pit. Production was over 900 long tons of 22% Mn in 1953-1954.
