A former small surface and underground Cu-Au-Ag-Pb mine located in the SE ¼ sec. 17 (& NE¼ sec. 20 ?). T.19S., R.25E. (Turquoise Mountain 7.5 minute topo map), ½ mile S of Turquoise Mountain. Produced 1916-1937. Owned by the Mona Leasing Co. Operated by Yoakum and Troglis and A.J. Nelty (1917).
Mineralization is oxidized copper ores in thrust fault breccia between Bolsa Quartzite above and limestone below. It averages 15 feet thick. Some ore is also located in the Carboniferous Abrigo Limestone along a contact with intrusive quartz monzonite. Ore bodies are blanket and irregular. Ore concentration was oxidation. In some areas, Abrigo Limestone underlies Bolsa Quartzite in the overlying plate. Thickness of the overthrust material is about 100 feet.
Local structures include an overthrust of Bolsa Quartzite over Paleozoic rocks.
Workings include a shaft(s). Some 3,000 tons of ore were produced prior to 1900 and 5,200 tons were produced intermittently from 1926 to 1952.
