Diamond Hill Quartz prospect
The Diamond Hill Quartz Mine/Prospect is located in the northwestern part of South Carolina, near the town of Antreville. The rock type at the prospect is a granitoid gneiss, formed by the metamorphism of the Antreville Pluton approximately 400 ma during the Ordovician (Jacquot and Karwoski, 2009, p. 66).
Later, the rock was fractured by tectonic fault movement along the Lowdnesville sheer zone and finally hydrothermal fluids moved through the fractures and deposited silica (Jacquot and Karwoski, 2009, p. 68).
