The old "Blachówka" dolomite quarry was closed in 1990. It borders the "Bobrowniki Mine" dolomite quarry located in Tarnowskie Góry. By the inhabitants of the area it is often called the "Grand Bytom Canyon", similarly to the neighboring "Grand Tarnogórski Canyon". From the west it borders with the Silver Mountain, where ore mining has been conducted for centuries. In its northern part of quarry there is a protected area, and in 1995 it was recognized as a documentary position, while in the southern and also the oldest part, in 1992 the "Dolomity Sportowa Dolina" sports center was established.

Among the mined dolomite rocks (Middle Triassic Age), there were also lots rich in ore, which were delivered to nearby smelters. However, in the first place they went to the largest nearby scrubber belonging to the Royal Mine Fryderyk (Friedrich Mine), located in Tarnowskie Góry.

In the northern part there are two additional tunnels. One of them, the one in the north wall of the quarry, is called the "Blachowicki Tunnel". They were hollowed out to obtain ore. In winter, interesting ice stalagmites can be observed in the adits (JMK, 2019)
