A Cu-U occurrence/mine located in approximate T26N, R2E, G&SRM, in the vicinity of Valle, 25 miles N of the Grand Canyon Junction, ½ mile E of the road near south rim of the Canyon (highway 64 ?). This locality is not listed in the USGS MRDS database. The geographic coordinates presented for this locality are very approximate to the center of T26N, R2E.
Mineralization is a Cu-U deposit hosted in Cu-stained sandstone of the flat-lying Moenkopi Formation as a 1 square mile residual hill on Kaibab Limestone. Radiation is 3X background. The radioactivity is in small areas at tunnel portals.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 2 open pits (10 X 20 feet long & 15 feet deep) connected by a 40 foot tunnel.
Shipped a few tons of copper ore about 1910-1920.
Analysis test results: 0.10% U3O8; 6.3% Cu.
