Winslow #6 & 7
An U occurrence/group of claims located in the N-central sec. 32, T20N, R17E, G&SRM, on the edge of Ives Mesa. The geographic coordinates presented are approximate to the center of sec. 32. This locality is not listed in the USGS MRDS database.
Mineralization is an U deposit that occurs in 2 sandstone lenses or paleochannels in the Petrified Forest Member of the Chinle Formation. The ore body is at a depth of 50 feet and averages 4-5 feet thick. Lenses are separated by 20 feet stratigraphically, with both trending ENE, and are superimposed.
Workings include underground openings comprised of 1 100 foot adit from the rim towards the ore body. 64 holes were drilled in 1955 for 8,200 feet.
Production was 49 tons of ore @ 0.03% U3O8; 0.17% V2O5 (1954) (reported from the Winslow No. 7).
