An underground mine producing high grade calcium carbonate owned and operated by J.R. Huber Corp (Huber Engineered Materials). The mine consists of at least two portals (adits) that go horizontally into the side of the hill and under Hwy 281. At its deepest point, the mine extends about 100 feet underground. The material is removed, powdered, and used in the pharmaceutical industry.
