Twin hills, max elevation 118 metres, near the center of Kyoto City that in the early 20th century were a well known locality for quartz crystals to several cm size in vugs in chert and quartzite. Now completely overgrown by forest and designated a natural protected area, with hefty fines for disturbing the natural features. The weathered remains of small quarries can be seen around the eastern edge.
