Little Devil’s Tower is a prominent landmark in the Black Hills. It takes its name from the well-known Devil’s Tower in Wyoming having a similar shape. The composition of Little Devil’s Tower is Harney granite not the columnar basalt of its namesake. The trail head to Little Devil’s Tower originates just west of the Needle’s Eye on the Needles Highway.
Little Devil's Tower is exactly one mile south by southwest of Black Elk Peak and is associated with the more well-known formation referred to as The Needles. It is clearly within the mapped exposures of the Harney Peak Granite. Little Devil's Tower is within the boundaries of Custer State Park and collecting is prohibited.
