Porettana Railway tunnels and cuts between Porretta Terme and Pracchia (Pistoia Province, Tuscany).
The railway excavations to the south of Porretta Terme, carried out in the first half of the 1860s, were the most prolific source of specimens among the historical Porretta quartz sites (Bombicci, 1869 and 1874). Particularly prolific was the Madonna del Ponte tunnel just to the south of Porretta Terme (the coordinates indicate the north portal), that yielded numerous high-quality specimens, including a large crystal aggregate weighing more than 14 kg.
