Historic gold mine.

Located about 500 metres west of Coromandel town. Descriptions indicate it was located on the flats at the eastern base of the hill, bordering to the south of the Kathleen Crown Mine. A recycling centre, sewerage plant and several houses are presently in the vicinity, and like most of the mines in this area, probably little remains.

The Kathleen Gold Mining Company was formed in 1896, with much shareholder money spent the following year on an impressive poppet head, and modern processing plant. It was more than the lease deserved. Forty men are employed, including thirty underground miners, who work 3 times 8 hour shifts a day to develop the mine.

Some articles are found across 1897, including detailed descriptions of the underground workings being developed, and discussions on reefs in neighbouring leases which should traverse the property. No gold found is mentioned, or crushings. The last information was found in 1898, stating it is a 'mine whose whole history belongs to the future'
