Botryoidal golden coloured seam agate. Digging for the material is a messy business, as the agate is found one metre below the surface in mud, and below a pebble layer. Sometimes the agate has small cavities containing quartz crystals. Nearby at the dam is black agate, covered by a calcareous layer giving it a blue-black colour. Occasional carnelian is found.
The swamp is on private property, the owners allowing a local rock club to collect on payment of a fee for the amount and weight of agate removed. Located 20 minutes north of Palmerston.
