Alluvial gold in gravels.
Cooks Terrace was a small area of flat land perched above the Shotover River, which has been extensively sluiced. It is about 3 kilometres from Skippers, diagonally opposite to Deadmans Terrace. Located on the western side of the Shotover River, it is not easily accessible, with The Branches Pastoral station road following the eastern side of the river.
Little information was found, including who it was originally named after. R. Sainsbury with T.M. and J. Shore apply for a lease on the terrace in 1895.
The Lynch brothers are reported in 1921 to have been tributing on the terrace 'for some time'.
