Located 12 kilometres north-east of Queenstown, or 4 kilometres from Frankton. This is one of seventeen public gold fossicking sites on the South Island of New Zealand. The site is a shingle bank along the Shotover River. Hand tools only are allowed.
This site is one of four gold fossicking sites around Queenstown. The area is tourism central for the South Island, and all the fossicking locations have been heavily used.
