Structure: Monoclinal Low Westward Dip, About 0.5w.
Tectonics: Interior Basin; Deltaic Red Bed Margin
Commodity: Pawnee mining and milling co. Operated here before 1935.
Deposit: 10 ft of sandstone with 2- to 10-inch copper zone in upper 2 ft. An early mention of the lela region (sec. 24-022n-003e) was by r.p. Fischer (1937, p. 914-915) who worked from 1933 to 1935 and showed the workings, shafts, etc. In sec. 24. [sec. 19 is mentioned by merritt (1940, p. 8) who gave r. 3 w., but probably meant r. 4 e.] nelson and bennett (1936) is first reference. Merritt (1940) mentions this. Oakes (1943) visited site with r.r. Moss and c.m. Weston, of pawnee, who were with pawnee mining and milling co., along with frank hudson, president of pawnee national bank, and jo o. Ferguson, editor of pawnee chief, and c.d. Drake of pawnee.
Geology: The wreford is about 10 ft thick and is represented As a sandstone. The lower 5 ft has most of the minerals. Geology by greig (1959).
