The Ravaccione quarrying area is located at the top of the Torano valley, on the left side. It includes: the actives quarries named Torrione or Quarry No. 55 (44°5'55''N, 10°8'9"E), and Tecchione or Quarry No. 52 (see coordinates); the inactive quarries named Fosso Moretto A (44°6'0''N, 10°8'4"E), Fosso Moretto B (44°6'3''N, 10°8'1"E), and Buca di Ravaccione (44°6'9''N, 10°7'53"E), located at lower elevations.

According to Giampaoli (1905), sphalerite was abundantly found at Torrione quarry. Here, according to Biagioni et al. (2019), some common minerals (e.g., quartz, fluorite) are presently found in small vugs. Fissures containing large quartz crystals (up to tens of cm) are located in a restricted area of the quarry.

Description: Mentioned by Giampaoli (1905) and D'Achiardi (1905) as an alteration product of realgar, in the form of thin yellow scales and orange-yellow spots on the former. The yellow to yellow-orange mineral mentioned by these two authors, and later by other authors, is actually pararealgar (orpiment cannot derive from the alteration of realgar, that usually alters into pararealgar). Consequently, the occurrence of orpiment from the marble cavities of this locality has to be considered as questionable (Biagioni et al., 2019).
